Slacking, Spore, and Otakonposted Jul 9th 2008, 5:18AM
Mood: Tired
So, yeah, I've sort of been neglecting SA for a while, in both posting and commenting. My new job is sort of beating me to a pulp, so when I come home I have had a tendency to either collapse and sleep, or do something mindless like playing video games.
My inactivity has only had a little bit to do with The Spore Creature Creator. For anyone else that has it, my creatures are shared on Sporepedia under the name "limpingpigeon". Likewise, I have videos of many of them on my youtube account (username "benwhoski").
Finally, if you're reading this you've probably already notice that I've been uploading a lot of fan art. This is both because I just generally feel like doing artwork that I take less seriously than my regular fantasy art, and because Otakon is coming up and I like to have at least a few new anime-related things when I go to cons (even though I almost always sell more original stuff than fan art...) The good thing about doing fan art is that because I take it less seriously, I feel more comfortable experimenting with styles and techniques. So, I'm also teaching myself a few new tricks. So, just sit back and enjoy the fan service :)
Favorite things to draw: Fantasy creatures, especially unicorns, dragons, and phoenixes; Fantasy landscapes; Art based on my fantasy world-building project; Friends' original characters; Random fan art of anime, comics, cartoons, and video games.
Things I know I need to work on: Human anatomy; machinery; vehicles; weapons; perspective
Misc: I try to keep up with thanking folks for comments, favs, watches, etc. I often fail when the outside world keeps me busy. If I don't directly thank you it is not because I don't appreciate it. It just means reality is holding me prisoner :)
I also have a tendency to add pieces as favorites without necessarily commenting. I do this either because while I really like the piece I don't have anything particularly useful or insightful to say and don't want to leave a one-word comment, or because I intend to come back and comment later. Please do not be offended if I fav your artwork without commenting.
